Our Kent, WA location at OMAX is currently recruiting a full-time Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team and perform the following job duties:

  • Identify, develop, and refine or deploy new manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and reduce lead time
  • Provide assistance to manufacturing operations including troubleshooting of assembly issue, special testing and assistance in identifying root cause
  • After analysis, recommend formal corrective actions to production or product design improvements
  • Lead and coach production personnel on process, equipment, and analytical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Carry out formal and timely manufacturability (DFM/DFT) review on all new products
  • Assist manufacturing in setting up lines and cells to build new and existing products using modern 'lean' manufacturing practices
  • Develop new processes based on new technology requirements
  • Coordinate with Product Engineering to assure that all Engineering models/drawings and specification are adequate to accurately define all manufacturing and quality requirements to produce a product that meets design requirements
  • Coordinate with engineering on all functional test requirements of existing and new products. Assure that customers receive a product that meets all the quality and reliability standards
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for Supervisors and work center to monitor key production processes
  • Ability to travel 10 - 15 percent per year


Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aeronautical or Aerospace engineering
  • Minimum of 5+ year's relevant manufacturing experience. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, or other change control processes
  • Hands on experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-directed and results-oriented
  • Must have the personal traits of a "Change Leader."
  • Ability to work and lead effectively within a team
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement efforts
  • Broad knowledge of production machinery, machine programming, machining processes, assembly tools and processes
  • Application of mistake and error proofing engineering
  • Proficient with CAD software Solid Works (or equivalent), MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and other common office tools. Experience with ERP System a Plus
  • Ability to work autonomously or as a contributing team member
  • Able to provide technical guidance to manufacturing team members
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies and provide solutions to the manufacturing team
  • Work with Product Engineering to improve design and or manufacturing process
  • Able to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Utilize a data-focused approach to problem solving
  • Able to create and maintain assembly and test procedures
  • Be a team builder - listens and considers input from others
  • Knowledge of lean philosophies such as one piece flow, kanban, and 5S
  • Experience developing and maintaining process documentation and with ECO maintenance
  • Strong analytical skill and good organizational skill
  • Effective verbal and written communication skill as well as excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
