Inhouse Consulting is the internal management consulting department supporting the global businesses of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. Our team of more than 70 colleagues globally includes consultants from all top-tier firms and we develop and implement strategies for senior executives across all our business sectors: healthcare (EMD Serono), life science (MilliporeSigma) and performance materials (EMD Electronics). Our US team is based in the Boston Area, with other offices in Germany (global headquarters) and APAC (Singapore, Shanghai).

With this truly interdisciplinary, international and diverse team, we shape the future success of our company on a wide range of national, regional and global projects in areas such as strategy and operations.

Your Role:

Based in Burlington, MA, you will support our internal clients during all project phases. With your know-how and energy, you will be driving projects to deliver results. Our Inhouse Consultants scope, lead, and deliver consulting projects across all business sectors and functions (e.g. commercial, R&D, operations, and corporate functions). You will act as strategic advisor to all management levels, from our executive board to functional leads and ensure projects achieve all objectives.

Beyond providing professional consulting services, you will be actively involved in training and development of our junior team members. By combining both, consulting excellence and people development, you will make significant contributions to the ongoing success of the company while you prepare yourself for a future leadership role in the organization.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MBA and/or PhD in science or engineering with outstanding success
  • 2+ years of experience in a leading management consulting firm; ideally with a focus on pharma and/or chemicals

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience supporting cross-functional projects in a global matrix organization
  • Initial leadership experience on cases or workstreams
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills
  • Substantial project experience in business strategy and operations, including commercial cases
  • Broad experience with stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and executive communication
  • Exceptional team and implementation-oriented focus
  • Independent and results-driven working style
  • Limited ability to travel is required
