Description

The Stars program is the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) five-star quality rating system for measuring Medicare beneficiaries' experience with their health plans and the health care system. The program is a key component in financing health care benefits for MA and MA-PD plan enrollees. In addition, the ratings are posted on the CMS consumer website to help beneficiaries choose among the plans offered in their area. Quality metrics include screenings and vaccines, managing chronic conditions, member experience with the health plan, member complaints, and customer service.

Responsibilities

The Manager, Business Intelligence leads a team of Data Analysts and Power BI Developers and works alongside the Product Owner and UX Researcher, to develop Power BI reports and tools to meet and exceed customers' needs and expectations. The Manager is a technical leader on the team, the final control point in the development process, and the decision-maker when it comes to technical issues and solutions. Decisions are typically related to resources, technical approach, and tactical operations for projects and initiatives involving own departmental area. Requires cross departmental collaboration, and conducts briefings and area meetings; maintains frequent contact with the Product Owner, the UX Researcher, and other managers across the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of technical experience in data analysis OR Master's degree and 3 or more years of experience
  • 2 or more years of leadership experience
  • Advanced in SQL Server and/or other data systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Azure
  • Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations
  • Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and create data visualizations that drive strategic direction
  • Proficiency in understanding Healthcare-related data
  • Proficiency in verbal/written communication to senior and executive leadership
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership as it pertains to the team's work
  • Experience communicating information through data visualizations
  • Organization and the ability to manage a team of developers working on multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Advanced understanding of data model architecture needed for Power BI development
  • Advanced experience with Power BI and Azure
  • Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling
  • Experience creating analytics solutions for various healthcare sectors
