TITLE: Maintenance Technician

STATUS: Hourly

LOCATION: Manufacturing

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor/Manager



JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Essential Functions


* Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
* Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of production equipment.
* May perform machinist duties and responsibilities.
* Perform maintenance skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, fabrication, troubleshooting and repair of production machines and equipment.
* May require knowledge of PLC controls and ladder logic.
* Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
* Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
* Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
* Use a variety of hand and power tools, troubleshooting tools and material handling equipment in performing duties.
* Perform lockout/tag out per policy as required
* Must be able to work from elevated platforms and mobile lift equipment
* Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
* Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
* Must be willing to work overtime as needed to insure the maintenance and uptime of equipment
* Will be required to use computerized maintenance system
* Capable of working independently and a self- starter
* Maintain a valid AWC forklift license

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills


* High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) is preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years of vocational or technical training in industrial mechanics, pneumatics, or hydraulics. Strong electrical background desired.
* Industrial mechanical maintenance experience preferred
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Good PC skills with a knowledge of MS Windows



Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common maintenance and repair documents and schematics. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquires or complaints. Good oral and written communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to use and read a standard and/or metric tape measure.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, knell, bend, twist, and walk. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, moving side to side, pulling/pushing, squatting, climbing, and other physical demands as needed. Employee must be able to distinguish colors for electrical troubleshooting and repair.

Working Conditions

Indoor and outdoor manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate to high. May be required to work with industrial chemicals. Appropriate PPE will be required. Occasional overtime and weekend work required.
