We offer a full spectrum of specialized products, services, and technologies to address any dental restoration need. Currently, we have 60+ labs throughout the country. Our team is growing, and we are seeking to fill a number of key positions within our organization including this opportunity at NDX Davis Dental Lab in Wyoming, Michigan for a Part Time Maintenance Specialist I. 

The regular hours for this position are from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and subject to change from time to time. 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Inspects equipment and facilities for proper operation and working condition per maintenance and safety inspection schedules
  • Maintains routine records and determines type and extent of malfunction of equipment and, as necessary, adjusts, disassembles and repairs or replaces parts or components, reassembles, and tests for proper operation.
  • Reports more serious problems to General Manager for instructions related to replacement of equipment or outside vendor maintenance scheduling.
  • Performs a variety of general semiskilled-to-skilled maintenance, alteration and repairs to machinery, equipment, or facilities as assigned or in accordance with basic skills and abilities, and standard procedures, diagrams, or manufacturer’s instructions, such as the following:
  • Order and install parts and equipment.
  • Routine electrical maintenance, replacement or alteration of circuit wiring, switches, control equipment and mechanisms, motors, transformers, relays, appliances, fixtures, etc.
  • General mechanical maintenance of laboratory and production equipment, kitchen equipment, office machines and equipment.
  • General plumbing maintenance: maintain, repair, and make alterations to, gas, water, air, and sanitary plumbing pipes and fixtures; bend, cut, ream, and thread pipe, wipe joints, test joints and pipe systems for leaks; repair and replace valves, repair leaks, and clear drain stoppages.
  • Performs a variety of routine maintenance duties in a safe manner such as, assemble equipment; moving supplies, furniture, equipment; replacing fuses, valves, fluorescent ballasts and tubes, light bulbs; clean and lubricate motors and other machinery; removing trash, scrap material, snow removal from sidewalks, steps, and delivery fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure the responsible use, safety and care of equipment. Ensure preventive maintenance requirements are met and that work area is kept clean.
  • Keep warehouse organized.
  • Responsible for the set-up and take down of materials and equipment for Company sponsored events.
  • Actively participate and share ideas for improvement that will positively shape the relationship the laboratory has with customers.
  • Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel, team members, and the public; performs other related duties as required
  • Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment and small tools for proper operating condition
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Working knowledge of the safe and proper usage of equipment materials and supplies used in equipment repair and building maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to maintenance work schedule.
  • Ability to understand and follow written or oral instructions and to establish effective working relationships.
  • Night and weekend maintenance work is periodically required.
  • Willingness to work outside in inclement weather to perform routine facility maintenance duties.
  • Ability to climb a ladder as needed in adherence to safety procedures. 
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of related experience preferred. 
Hazardous Materials or Equipment Used
  • All equipment and chemicals utilized in the laboratory for production or maintenance including but not limited to Sulfuric acid, solvents and flammable liquids.
  • Ladder
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to exhibit fine motor skills and/or perform repetitive motions using both arms and hands grasping, gripping, pinching, lifting, and carrying. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time with repeated bending and kneeling.
  • Must be able to work from ladders
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Vision capabilities: close vision, able to adjust focus, depth perception, attention to detail, and/or color.
  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using both arms and hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • The team member may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds
