Maintenance Planner



PURPOSE

Reports to Maintenance Reliability Manager, Manistee, Michigan. Assist in the collaborative development, planning and coordinating of a preventative maintenance program and major equipment repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist Maintenance Reliability Manager in development and administration of preventive maintenance program and work order system; coordinate activities from inception to implementation with on-going responsibilities
  • Develop mid to long-term maintenance plans for major plant equipment and project work
  • Assist plant and process engineers in developing an optimization program for major plant processing equipment
  • Assist in the development of equipment inspection procedures by operations and maintenance department to ensure that proper actions are being taken to maximize equipment uptime and to keep the equipment in good working condition
  • Implement and maintain new pro-active equipment testing procedures to predict future maintenance requirements and timelines for work order completion
  • Assist in the supervision ofhourly workforce assigned to the department; Responsible for planning and scheduling training of personnel in department
  • Assist in development of analysis program for major equipment components
  • Effective use of planned annual budgets
  • Collaboration with Stockroom Manager for optimized re-order points, critical spare parts availability, and ongoing maintenance of existing spare parts lists. PO issuance for planned work, supplementing available stock components
  • Responsible for measuring the efficiency of PM and major maintenance efforts
  • Review all existing master job procedures on a regular basis and ensure accuracy
  • Other duties as required by the Maintenance Reliability Engineer

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Related college degree preferred or equivalent experience in maintenance or procurement
  • 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance and CMMS
  • Mechanical aptitude and process equipment maintenance experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must keep safety above all else with hazard recognition abilities
  • Excellent strategic planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and other data analytic systems
  • Must be able to read and write to complete required daily reports, training guides and inspection documents; understand equipment manuals and regulatory compliance; strong verbal communication skills
  • Must be self-driven with minimal supervision with the ability to work with all levels of union workforce, management, and outside resources
  • Results driven
  • Solid understanding of mechanical drawings and assemblies, and methods
  • Problem solving skillset, and use of RCA methods

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift up to 35 pounds
  • Visual acuity, clear speech & hearing ability, hand/eye coordination
  • Walking, climbing stairs and occasional ladders, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this position
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to safely fulfill all in-plant job requirements
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Able to work in industrial environment around hot, noisy process equipment
  • Pass required background check, physical examination and drug screens
