Description:

We are working with a food manufacturer in the Goshen, NY area searching for a Maintenance Manager to join and lead their maintenance team. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of equipment and systems used in production processes. Your role involves developing and implementing maintenance programs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize maintenance processes. With a focus on preventive maintenance and continuous improvement, you will play a vital role in minimizing downtime, maximizing equipment uptime, and supporting overall manufacturing objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Process Design and Optimization: Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, including production lines, equipment layout, and workflow to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Product Development Support: Collaborate with product development teams to ensure manufacturability of new products. Provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and participate in prototype testing and validation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Implement corrective actions and process enhancements to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.
  • Cost Analysis and Budgeting: Analyze manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Develop and manage manufacturing budgets to optimize resource utilization.
  • Supplier Management: Evaluate and select suppliers for manufacturing equipment, materials, and components. Negotiate contracts and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality materials and services.
  • Training and Documentation: Develop training programs and provide technical guidance to production teams on manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Create and maintain documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in manufacturing operations. Identify and mitigate safety hazards to maintain a safe working environment for employees.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Manufacturing Engineer) may be preferred.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in a relevant industry such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, or consumer goods.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, welding, casting, and injection molding. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for process design and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze complex manufacturing processes, identify root causes of issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Willingness to stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in manufacturing engineering.
