Position Purpose:
Operate CNC machine process for the Controls Business Unit. Provide support and training to other Machine Operators. Act as a subject matter expert on machining process; use knowledge to program and troubleshoot CNC machine as needed.
Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and operate CNC machining center.
  • Schedule and perform preventive and predictive maintenance, as needed.
  • Aid in development and implementation of standard work instructions, 5S, TPM and continuous improvement activities
  • Ability to interpret and create blueprints.
  • Conduct required Quality Control checks using basic measurement equipment or CMM, as needed.
  • Participate in team driven problem solving, related to machined components.
  • Assist in the development of new machining and quality processes, related to new products and/or capital projects.
  • Accurately report daily activities on Work Orders, Kan Ban cards, and other media as required.
  • Exercise safe working habits while operating machines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department manager.
  • Education and Training
    • High School Diploma / GED Required.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in the machining field; associates degree or Journeyman card in related field is highly desirable.


    Minimum Qualifications
    • Mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated ability to work in a production environment.
    • Ability to perform quality checks using calibrated digital micrometers, Vernier calipers and go/no go gauges to ensure product is within tolerance.
    • CMM experience is a plus.
    • Robotic and/or PLC programming experience a plus
    • Electrical maintenance background desired
    • Able to read and understand blueprints and geometric tolerances.
    • Previous machining experience in a manufacturing environment is a must, CNC operations desirable.
    • Must be able to meet production standards and follow instructions.
    • Ability to follow operation procedures and assess problems and recommend solutions to resolve problems.
    • Ability to function as an effective team member.
    • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
    • Must be able to read and comprehend sufficiently as well as write legibly.

    Physical Demands
    • Frequent lifting, bending, twisting.
    • Standing for long periods of time
    • Ability to travel (equipment runoff)
