TITLE: Machine Rebuild Mechanic 1st Shift (6am - 2pm)

PLANT: Corporate

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

REPORTS TO: Electrical/Machine Control Manager

FLSA STATUS: Hourly Non-Exempt

PAY GRADE: 16 - 18 ($22-$30)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipes in industrial establishments.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane, measuring instruments, fork trucks, and aerial equipment in the proper manner.
  • Reads and follows specifications, blueprints and manuals.
  • Reads and understands hydraulic prints.
  • Installs hydraulic tubing.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Operates cutting and welding equipment to cut and join metal parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Operates lathe, drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools.
  • Initiates request for parts and machines.
  • Works in confined spaces and follows proper safety rules accordingly.
  • Able to work weekends and overtime as required.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance, in accordance with scheduled work hours, and overtime(OT) as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education, knowledge, skills and abilities:

Education: Minimum High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Journeyman License, Associates Degree or higher is preferred.

Certifications: High-pressure hydraulic pipe welding or willing to obtain certification.

Experience: Two or more years' experience including using a wide range of hand and powered tools.

Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.

Other: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity; demonstrated fabricating skills; and demonstrated understanding of electrical schematics preferred. Must be willing and able to complete all required classes assigned through the training matrix.

Licenses: Valid driver's license. Requires a willingness to be licensed for required powered industrial equipment.
