Utilizes current nursing practices to provide patient care while focusing on the needs of the patient and
exemplifying the service excellence goals of care, concern, respect and cooperation. As a contributing member of a
health care team, functions in the role of patient advocate by being in the position of initial contact for
patient-related issues.
PatientAssessment-Functionsintheroleofpatientadvocatebybeinginthe positionofinitialcontactforpatient-relatedissues.Clarifiesandimplements physicianordersbyadministeringmedicationsandperforming/orderingtreatments ndtestingasprescribedbythephysician.Recognizes symptomsandestablishesprioritiesconsistentwithpatient'scondition.Documentspatient'sphysicalandemotionalstatusandaddstoplanof careinordertoaddresspatientneedsappropriately
PatientCare-Reviewsandevaluatesplanofcare,obtainsinformationfrom patientand/orfamily,andaddstoplanofcareasappropriate.Collaborateswiththemultidisciplinaryteam,thepatient,andfamilyto promoteefficientpatientcare.Providesforthe physical,culturalandpsychosocialneedsofthepatientandfamily.Integrates evidence-basedpracticeandprofessionalstandardswheneverpossible.Serves asachampionforpatientsafetybycontinuallyobservingandmonitoringthe clinicalenvironmentandassuringthatsafetygoalsandstandardsareconsidered whenprovidingcareinthepracticesetting. Communication-Performsrequireddocumentationandcommunicatesina competentandeffectivemannertomeetpatientand/orfamilyneedsand regulatoryrequirements.Protectsconfidentialityofpatient'sPersonalHealth Information(PHI) WorkFlow-Assistswiththedailyoversightofotherclinicalstaff(othernurseand non-nursestaffmembers)whendirectedbythemanagertomaximizeworkflowin thepractice.Providesfeedbacktothemanagerwhenrequestedregarding work-relatedskillsofnon-licensedpersonnel.Servesasamentorandpreceptor fornewstaffandasaconstantresourcetonon-licensedornon-nursepersonnel.
