ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in reviewing shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and schedules.
• Verifies shipping quantities prior to shipping and researches any discrepancies.
• Helps determine space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
• Helps determine routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
• Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
• Notifies Maintenance Manager of defects in material handling equipment for repair.
• Helps direct movement of shipments from shipping to storage and work areas.
• Helps compile records of unfilled orders.
• Issues written and oral instructions.
• Helps maintain harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
• Spot-checks loading patterns of finished goods for neat stacking, banding, and undamaged product.
• During slack periods, assigns forklift operators and loaders to other duties.
• Works closely with Customer Service via email and telephone to help ensure shipping accuracy.
• Helps inventory operations. Enters inventory counts and helps research variances.
• Enters shipping information into computer to generate shipping documents.
• Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2 years on the job training/logistics experience.
• Prior lift truck experience is a must. Standup lift truck experience preferred.
