The Western Union legal team is very pleased to announce an opportunity for a rising second- or third-year law student looking to gain hands-on experience in the context of a sophisticated in-house legal department. This is a unique opportunity for a legal intern to join our legal power team, working closely with our in-house legal team and other functional groups on a variety of issues. The legal intern will gain exposure to the inner workings of a legal team at a global financial services company.

The virtual Western Union HQ internship program provides university juniors, seniors, and graduate students real-world experience working for an international brand. As a #WUIntern, you will bring your unique insights and talents to the company and expand various teams' capacity. During this paid, 12-week program, you will develop your skills through a structured blend of CliftonStrengths® coaching, topical deep-dive sessions, team-building activities, executive networking opportunities, and enriching individual and team projects.

As a Legal Intern at Western Union, you will work within our Technology, IP, Procurement, and Real Estate team. You will have a broad range of responsibilities across the team, which may include:

• Drafting and developing contract playbooks and benchmarking materials.

• Reviewing and drafting provisions of contracts, documents, and other materials.

• Researching global laws pertaining to intellectual property; and

• Collaborating on a variety of cross-functional projects.

Whilst you may not have professional work experience, we are looking for you to bring the following general skills to the table:

• Must be a rising second or third-year law student in good standing for the degree of J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Excellent analytical ability and legal drafting skills with attention to detail.

• Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively across many diverse internal groups, teams, and departments.

• A demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced work environment.

• Ability to research and learn new concepts and legal issues quickly to facilitate problem solved.

• Energetic, with a passion for using analytical skills to help problem-solve and solution.

• Motivation to learn and grow.

• Prior experience working as an intern, research associate, at a law firm, or in a corporate environment will be preferred.
