Refining a Moodle-based Learning Management System while Supporting Project-based Stakeholder Engagement

The Center for Digital Acceleration (CDA) at DAI is seeking a Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator. The candidate will have experience working in online LMS environments, including but not limited to Moodle. They will work directly with project technical specialists, web designers, multimedia specialists, and project staff and to design, test, and execute online eLearning courses.

Course delivery will be a combination of self-paced, blended, and virtual synchronous, and will require a high level of knowledge of Moodle, and the ability to learn and navigate multiple web-conferencing systems, including but not limited to Cisco WebEx, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Description

The LMS Administrator will be responsible for continued administration of the CDA-managed Learning Management Systems and for online learning specific to project requirements, supporting project teams as they create, upload, and manage content, troubleshooting platform complications, escalating support issues through proper channels when necessary, and ensuring course content can be delivered in the online platform(s). This role drives the design and delivery of a well-organized, high-quality, engaging, and effective online experience for our field projects. This role is envisioned on a part-time contract basis, within the CDA Products eLearning team.

Role:

Project support

  • Supporting project-based capacity building by communicating technical eLearning concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and curriculum developers to translate project-driven instructional design concepts to LMS parameters through authoring tools or native Moodle functionalities
    • Preparing the structure and instructional design concept of online courses, in collaboration with project teams and SMEs
    • Developing and drafting course storyboards
    • Using authoring tools and graphic design programs, including videos, infographics and voice-overs, to publish SCORM-compliant courses for project use
  • Preparing custom plugins for specific Moodle-based courses like local plugins, blocks, reports etc.
  • Implementing custom enrollment methods
  • Implementing surveys, multiple choice quizzes, or other methods to evaluate learning in a Moodle-based Learning Management System
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Moodle Administration
  • Proactively engaging with the CDA eLearning team to consolidate the existing Moodle instance and improve its functionality
  • Performing design, configuration, and customization of the existing Moodle instance to enable improvements to functionality

Work Experience

Required
  • At least 2 years of experience in instructional and technical design, specifically focusing on interactive training methodologies, development of online self-directed courses, development of training materials for adult learners, and development of LMS platforms.
  • Experience with authoring tools such as the Articulate 360 suite.
  • Experience with open-source LMS platforms such as Moodle.
  • Demonstrable project management skills with a high level of organization.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage and interact with a diversity of project stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred
  • Experience installing and configuring of Moodle / Cocoon systems and themes
  • Experience in PHP and JavaScript
  • Experience in SQL database management

Education and Skills
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in social sciences, international studies, education, or related field, or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with two additional years of experience. Fluency in English and advanced level in an additional language with a large global footprint (for example: Arabic, Bahasa Indonesian, French, Mandarin Chinese, Pashto, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Urdu, etc)
