Founded in 1999, Dexcom, Inc. (NASDAQ: DXCM), develops and markets Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems for ambulatory use by people with diabetes and by healthcare providers for the treatment of people with diabetes. The company is the leader in transforming diabetes care and management by providing CGM technology to help patients and healthcare professionals better manage diabetes. Since the company's inception, Dexcom has focused on better outcomes for patients, caregivers, and clinicians by delivering solutions that are best in class - while empowering the community to take control of diabetes. Dexcom reported full-year 2022 revenues of $2.9B, a growth of 18% over 2021. Headquartered in San Diego, California, with additional offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific, the company employs over 8,000 people worldwide.

Meet the team:

We are a multi-disciplinary team of user experience designers, industrial designers, visual designers, user researchers and instructional designers. Our passion for the products comes from our passion for the people (including team members) that use our products each day to take control of their health. This role reports to a Senior Manager of UX Design as a member of the Global Product Design team.

How we work:

We work closely with engineering and product management to leverage the power of data to help improve the lives of patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers who live with and care for people with diabetes. We work to provide delightful and accessible products that address complex user needs across multiple software and hardware platforms. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. The design team has offices in San Diego and Portland and works remotely with designers around the world.

Where you come in:

  • You will play a leadership role on the UX Design team, guiding others to make UX design decisions for mobile and wearable interfaces. You'll mentor other designers by sharing your knowledge and expertise with the team.
  • You will help shape what's next by partnering with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for our products.
  • You will be a voice for design by helping us drive the vision for the look, feel, and interactions in Dexcom products, and communicate that vision to the rest of the company.
  • You will push forward new design ideas proactively and take ownership of tasks that impact the entire product portfolio of CGM apps.
  • You will be a champion for the user by immersing yourself in patient, caregiver, and healthcare provider experiences and help tell the varied and diverse stories of these users as you work to improve their experiences with Dexcom products.
  • You will positively influence our design culture by building up our teams, departments, and company through words and actions.
  • You will welcome feedback and respectful disagreement.

What makes you successful:

We would love to have you on our team if;
  • You love crafting powerful experiences that empower health. You'll be part of a team responsible for ensuring our users understand and effectively use the data generated and gathered by Dexcom products. We'd love it if the person in this role has their own ideas about what constitutes great UX with data and is excited about helping Dexcom evolve.
  • You have a portfolio showcasing UX workflow process and ideation. You have experience using prototyping (Such as: Principle, Sketch, Figma, HTML/CSS/JS, etc.) to validate and convey ideas. We don't expect you to have an "ideal" portfolio, we are interested in understanding your knowledge and experience across the user experience discipline.
  • You enjoy communicating about design and can talk about complex design ideasand processes in a way that's accessible to diverse audiences. The ability to discuss tradeoffs between design options and articulate design decisions is a critical skill for our team. Every member of our team acts as an ambassador, mentor, and educator for our craft across Dexcom.
  • You can take abstract ideas and concepts and transform them into tangible, delightful experiences for our users.A great fit for this role is a designer that may not know everything there is to know about the experience managing diabetes, but through research and curiosity can form metaphors for the tasks managing diabetes involves that resonate with users, visually and conceptually. Your job is to take usually complex information, workflows, and concepts and transform them into delightful experiences that resonate with users.
  • You care deeply about users and their needs.A strong candidate for this role will be naturally curious about our users and their caregivers, what troubles them and delights them, and will be relentless in advocating for their best interests in the product. They will feel comfortable proactively reaching out to users via our research teams, and their engagement will be tuned toward empathy and understanding.
  • You have advanced knowledge and experience designing for native mobile apps. We'd love for the person in this role to understand the challenges of building products that need to serve both iOS and Android platforms while speaking one holistic design language. Your job is to work with design systems, Material Design, and iOS Human Interface Guidelines to craft consistent, high-quality experiences across our products.
  • You value clear, open communication. We see clear, thoughtful, and regular communication (including a willingness to give and receive feedback) as a fundamental skill, not just a nice to have - and we hope you do too.

What you'll get:
  • A front row seat to life changing CGM technology. Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.
  • A full and comprehensive benefits program.
  • Growth opportunities on a global scale.
  • Access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement.
  • An exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.

Exempt Salary Details:
  • The annual base salary range for this role is $122,500 to $204,100. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.

Our Interview Process:
  • Introductory with internal Recruiter.
  • Zoom/Video call with Design Manager. Talk broadly about yourself and your design mindset.
  • Virtual presentation via video conference.
  • Group presentation to the design team of one or more of your projects. Discuss the project background, your role, and process in making design decisions.
  • Meetings with smaller groups from the team. Opportunity for both sides to ask more questions.
