JOB SUMMARY:

You will work on our 2nd shift: Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

The Lead Machinist will be providing technical supervision for 2nd shift. They will also perform the most complex machining and fitting of all kinds of parts, tools, and machines in support of production operations or job shop machining for Engineering prototypes. The Lead Machinist is able to lay out work from blueprints, sketches and written specifications. Sets up and operates all available machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements. In addition, this person is able to determine operational sequences and uses skillfully all machinists' hand tools and measuring instruments. This skill level also requires a familiarity with working properties of all materials. Program and edit programs using MasterCam CAM software. Fits and assembles where necessary. At this level machinist serve as technical resources for less experienced machinists.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain work flow of work within the machine shop to create efficient thru put of materials.

Participate in resolving questions or problems concerning programs and machining issues.

Monitor production schedules and deadlines to support on time deliveries.

Provide Supervisor with input concerning employee performance, quality, and workflow issues.

Assist in maintaining a high standard of quality for the machine shop, including checking work.

Participate on cross functional process improvement teams, projects and attend weekly meetings.

Assist others in the organization with introducing and maintaining best practices on the manufacturing floor including Lean Manufacturing, 5S.

Train and assist machinist on CNC machines along with use on computer (SAP) for confirming production orders.

Will train machinist on CNC Machines.

Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to Supervisor.

Must work well with others.

Perform other duties as assigned.

May identify and coordinate machine repairs while assisting in the maintenance of a clean and safe shop at all times.

Work in conjunction with Site Operations Manager to establish annual individual goals and objectives in alignment with department goals.

Independently, without supervision, sets up and operates all available machine tools to perform various machine operations on parts that are made from various materials.

Works with more exotic materials and complex designs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent required. 2-year graduate of Voc-tech machinist.
• Minimum five years' Leadership experience in manufacturing environment specifically in a high technology environment.
• MasterCam programming and editting is preferred, however, we will accept knowledge of other CAM software packages
