Quality Assurance Technician

Ensures that quality testing, SOP's, GMP's, procedures, validation and verification documentation are maintained at or above standards. Supports commitment and continuous improvement to Food Safety and Quality programs and their prerequisites.

Duties and Responsibilities

Verify testing, protocols, documentation, and records are kept in order each from start to end of shift. Conduct regular safety, sanitation, and GMP compliance inspections. Testing of incoming raw milk and finished product samples throughout shift per procedure as needed. Communicate and work with QA Manager, Production Manager, and supervisory personnel on any in process or finished product deviations. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a science related technical discipline or a current industry related job position. Work experience in dairy or other food processing field a plus. Ability to learn and work with specialized lab testing equipment and perform basic microbiological bench testing. Understanding of basic sanitation chemistry strongly preferred. Technician will need to become proficient in drug residue screening of raw milk and maintain testing certification with Maryland Department of Health. Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office. Ability to problem solve and help identify alternative and corrective actions. Prioritizes work assignments and is self-directed. Must be able to complete work accurately and completely to meet the standards of DFA, Dairy Maid Dairy, FSMA, and GFSI initiatives. Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

Must work safely at all times and participate in safety programs to help ensure the safety of others. Must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Shift lengths and number of days worked per week may change to meet growing plant requirements. Technician must be available to work 1-2 weekends per month.
