Lab Technician- CookiesPosition Summary
Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Cookies, Cones and Crusts Senior Food Scientist, this individual will facilitate rapid benchtop prototyping utilizing a variety of equipment. They will oversee preventive equipment maintenance, clean and sanitize equipment, maintain ingredient and warehouse inventory, capture and report data, and ensure the safe working and operation of equipment and environment. This role will also provide sample packaging and shipping leadership for product developers and process engineers for innovation, renovation, and brand maintenance projects.
Major Responsibilities
- Competent and confident in a kitchen/bakery setting. Bakery ingredient understanding and openness to learn technical functionality details.
- Independent operator who is adept at managing a heavy workload on short timelines involving frequent changes.
- Operation of various small to mid-scale processing equipment, producing various samples for internal and external use as requested by R&D.
- Detail oriented and extremely through.
- Adept at multiple complex sample labeling and shipment preparation to internal and external stakeholders in the US and internationally.
- Assist in maintaining equipment in good sanitary and working condition.
- Perform/coordinate preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work area.
- Adhere to GMP and other safety regulations.
- Orders ingredients, supplies, equipment and chemicals.
- Organize supplies and maintain records of all inventories (chemical/equipment/ingredients/pallets).
- Maintain security and confidentiality of information within the research and development team.
- Understands and demonstrates the Company's core values.
- Conducts assigned work in a safe manner and adheres to Ferrara safety methods.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 10%.

Education and ExperienceWorking conditions and physical requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 8+ hours sitting/standing/walking.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to hazards (steam, chemicals, machinery, confined spaces, etc.).
Preferred Skills
- Kitchen, bakery or food manufacturing experience
- Bachelor's or Associate degree a plus but not required
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Willingness to learn SAP
