Job Description

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite about 3 times per week.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Junior Simulation Engineer to work within our Motorsports program. Responsible for multiple areas of simulation development, you will help define test procedures for vehicles on track to gather required data to validate existing models and develop advanced models to improve the accuracy of the simulation toolchain. You will use these advanced models to increase engineering understanding and aspects of race car performance development. Experience using Dymola and Modelica, deploying models via the FMI standard, and having a passion for creating highly accurate and numerically efficient models a strong plus.

What you will do:

  • Play a key role in simulation development
  • Bring state of the art modeling and simulation of vehicle and subsystems to our tools
  • Use advanced data analytics techniques to analyze track data, correlate models and retrieve underlying trends from large amounts of complex data

In order to succeed in this challenging role, we are looking for a graduate profile:
  • Bachelor of Science/Master of Science in an engineering discipline
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics proven with applicable courses
  • Ability to derive simple vehicle dynamics models from first principles, but also scale this knowledge up to complex systems
  • Highly analytical, client-oriented and structured, with excellent relationship and communicative skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, ever changing environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrity

Additional Job Description

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related subject
  • 0-2 years related engineering experience
  • Dymola and Modelica experience is preferred
  • Prior knowledge and experience in multibody model development and validation desirable
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
  • Must be a team player, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity
