The Dean's Office in the College of Engineering (CoE) is responsible for all administrative and managerial functions of the College, which include overseeing the operations of the College's four (4) academic departments, coordinating work of the College's committees, managing budgetary and financial matters, providing faculty and staff support, working with other University departments to integrate CoE functions into Academic Affairs and the University systems, providing student services, and managing the development activities for the benefit of the College and its' students. The Center for Student Success in Engineering (CSSE) provides career and academic advising, tutoring and other services that support student success.
The Internship Coordinator works to provide comprehensive career development services to engineering students. The incumbent supplements student classroom learning experiences by supporting the administration of campus programs that ensure student involvement in internships (and related experiential learning opportunities), facilitating the increased involvement of the diverse CoE student body in internships, and by advocating and promoting quality student internship experiences with university staff, faculty, and community partners.
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable knowledge in the STEM field, as well as professional experience counseling and guiding others in their internship and career decisions.

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is physically located at the SDSU Main Campus in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
- At least one year work experience in a diverse setting, serving a diversity of people.
- At least one year work experience or background in career or internship counseling.
- At least one year work experience or background in a university STEM program.
- At least one year work experience at San Diego State University.
- Degree or experience in a STEM field (specifically, engineering, math, or physics).
- Working knowledge of updating website content.
- General knowledge of the procedures and practices related to internships in a university setting.
- Working knowledge of the major areas of a university including Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Business Affairs and University Relations and Development.
Compensation and Benefits
- At least one year work experience at a university, in a career services capacity or other student service-related office.
- At least one year work experience in the STEM industry in a recruitment or college internship/career capacity.
- Proficiency of and experience in MS - suite (ACCESS, Word, EXCEL, etc.) and Google Suite (aka Google Workspace- Drive, Slides, Gmail, etc.)
- Proficiency of and experience in EAB Navigate, CANVAS, Peoplesoft, APEX, ASIR, other student tracking/communication tools.
- At least one year work experience in collecting and organizing data and/or detailed information for reports and disseminating to diverse audiences of varying sizes.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,304 per month.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120 per month. SDSU Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program. Supplemental Information
