The Office of International Services at NC State facilitates the University's global mission in education, research, and community engagement by providing effective educational programs, advising, immigration processing, research and employment support, cross-cultural experiences, and community extension activities. Our programs and services enable the international student and scholar community, faculty and students, and the broader community around us to achieve inter-cultural success and excellence on and off campus.

Essential Job Duties:

Program Coordination: (70%)
* Reporting to the Assistant Director of Programs, the International Programs Coordinator will develop, coordinate, and staff current and future OIS-sponsored social and cultural programs, including but not limited to: Breaking Bread, Culture Corps, I-SSERV; English Conversation Club, I-MOM.
* Will coordinate and execute New International Student Orientations in conjunction with the Assistant Director, and assist in development of pre-departure and long-form orientation models. Will liaise with campus partners as appropriate for robust orientation programming. Will recruit, train, and supervise student and community program volunteers. Will provide students and scholars (or staff/faculty) with general information when appropriate or make referrals to advisors or other campus resources.
* Will plan and staff the office's Alternative Intercultural Service Break (AISB) each Spring Break and supervise student trip leaders.
* Will coordinate OIS involvement in the NC State International Festival with campus partners and student organizations. Will supervise student leaders engaged in planning.
* Will participate in campus working groups and committees as needed to maintain and seek out new collaboration opportunities.
* Liaise with organizations, student groups, and units involved in international education.
* Conduct International Spouse Orientations and maintain dependent check-in resources.
* Will develop and execute other programs and initiatives in consultation with Assistant Director for Programs and other OIS leadership as assigned.
* Will meet or exceed all ethical, legal, professional, University, and unit policies and/or standards. Will engage in professional development when possible and as directed, including participation in NAFSA and/or NCAIE.
* Will identify and assist in the application for grants related to international programming efforts.

OIS Communications: (30%)
* Will compose and keep up-to-date the Programs sections of Website (Orientation, Living, and Culture sections). Will write and maintain materials relating to Programs and Cultural Orientation. Will procure and prepare online orientation packets for students, scholars, and spouses. Will maintain responsibility for office communications and website format and compliance with University branding requirements.
* Will manage the office's social media accounts through the development and implementation of a social media strategy with support from student staff. Will use social media to promote OIS activities with both campus and community (city/county/state) media, and keep NC State Global and OIS staff informed of campus/community international events and enter on office calendar or website.
* Will have primary responsibility for the creation and maintenance of all forms of electronic communication that OIS produces such as the OIS Newsletter (once per month) with assistance from designated advising staff, and provide technical assistance in sending out our newsletter to faculty and staff quarterly.

  • Will coordinate OIS communication related to NC State's Annual Day of Giving
  • Will represent OIS at Office of Global Engagement communicators meetings

Other Responsibilities:

* Will represent OIS at Office of Global Engagement communicators meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, and significant experience living or studying abroad.
Other Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills particularly with population where English is the second language.
  • Ability to work frequent nights and weekends particularly during orientation periods and leading up to major events/trips.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration, International Studies, Counseling, or a Foreign Language.
  • Prior campus programming experience or events management experience.
  • Social media management experience and with newsletters/mailchimp.

  • Valid Driver's License
