As a member of the University Communications team, the Digital Content Producer will be a skilled and persuasive storyteller who believes in the power of CU Denver, as a public urban research university, to transform the lives of individuals and society. This position will develop content with a marketing-centric lens for specific target audiences on trending topics that connect and highlight relevant CU Denver people, programs, research, strategic initiatives, and accomplishments.The Digital Content Producer will have the flexibility to be both creative and analytical as they manage the various stages of projects including concept and content development and measurement. Content will be distributed through the university’s website, online newsroom, sponsored and paid advertising opportunities, and other digital and engagement channels. Work is performed independently and often in collaboration with University Communications team members.Supervision Received: Assistant Vice Chancellor, Marketing and Brand StrategySupervision Exercised: NoneResponsibilities:
  • Collaborates with editorial/content, creative, marketing and web teams to plan, create and distribute valuable, relevant content to attract defined audiences and drive engagement and enrollment.
  • Contributes to editorial plans and calendars, completes and/or collaborates on relevant tasks and ensures deadlines are met for consistent distribution of content.
  • Performs interviews, fact checks, gathers data/information/points of pride, and writes various copy for multiple audiences, including ad copy, stories, news items and other content for university homepage, online newsroom, paid digital, print, and other channels, as assigned. Secures stakeholder approval of content as directed. 
  • Proposes and executes on visual storytelling approaches (e.g., photography, graphic design/layout, video, illustration, infographics, etc.) to enhance user engagement, in collaboration with University Communications team members.
  • Edits and builds web pages for stories with all text and visual assets in content management systems, editing images as needed.
  • Considers best channels for content distribution to meet user needs, including social platforms. 
  • Proactively sources/pitches story and content ideas and builds a network of key contacts.
  • Optimizes content considering SEO and analytics.
  • Attends content meetings and brainstorming sessions to pitch stories and provide feedback on others’ assigned stories. 
  • Contribute to the overall success of University Communications and CU Denver by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for this position has been established at $52,211.19 to $65,000.   The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Three years of progressive experience of professional writing and editing experience.
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five years of progressive experience of professional writing and editing experience.
  • Hands-on experience with content optimization, including SEO, accessibility, findability, readability, etc.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Experience or knowledge of content layout/design strategies and techniques.
  • Experience measuring content performance to inform decisions.
  • Experience developing content that supports marketing strategy and objectives and meets the needs of audiences.
  • Experience with content management systems (SiteFinity, Drupal, WordPress, etc.).
  • Experience sourcing and editing visual assets (photography, video, graphics, etc.) in Adobe Creative Suite.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in video production and editing. 
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills as well as a strong problem-solving ability.
  • An innate sense for good, multimedia, and digital storytelling that supports university’s strategic goals and initiatives. 
  • Application of personas to guide content development.
  • Understanding of marketing funnel and how content should be deployed to increase engagement and actions.
  • Knowledge and ability to optimize content for search (SEO).
  • Ability to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the university, its people, and programs.
  • Ability to synthesize disparate facts, trends, and events into coherent and persuasive pieces on behalf of the university.
  • Able to manage diverse workload under deadline pressure, skilled at handling multiple priorities in a shifting content landscape.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and works well with minimal direction. 
  • Customer-service driven.
  • Efficient project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional team.
