Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of psychiatry research, with an emphasis on neurophysiology and psychosis as well as expertise in bench research involving neuronal cell culture and imaging of synaptic activity (typically requiring a PhD). Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Board certification in Psychiatry and Pennsylvania medical license.
Responsibilities may include teaching at all levels of medical education, providing supervision as needed, providing clinical care, helping conduct studies involving synaptic imaging in human stem cell derived neurons , and other duties as assigned. Clinical care will be focused on outpatient treatment of adults, with a specific focus on psychosis.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop an individual training experience in research skills and teaching, while developing a career in an academic setting.
This position will be based in the laboratory of Dr. Stewart Anderson at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
