JOB SUMMARY: Inside Sales Engineers are responsible for prospecting, developing and obtaining new and existing business relationships for assigned area of responsibility by providing unique solutions for automated building controls systems, including service contracts, repairs, retrofits.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for direct sales of the company's services, including prospecting leads, effectively qualifying sales calls, preparing proposals and quotations, negotiations and managing sales cycle to close sales.
  • Ensures that a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained by consistently managing existing and new customer base.
  • Maintains sales revenue, gross margins, product mix, meet or exceed assigned targets.
  • Prepares complete, concise, and accurate reports, proposals, booking packages, and other documentation as required.
  • Utilize sales tools effectively (CRM, estimating software, etc.) to plan and document progress as well as increase business opportunity within accounts.
  • Conduct customer needs assessments and sales proposal estimates and specifications to promote controls products and services.
  • Participates in training. Attends meetings, trade shows, seminars and other training and networking events as required or requested.
  • Keeps informed of industry information of interest to customers. Tracks industry trends. Checks on competitive activity and develops new methods of attaining new business.
  • Grow assigned territory or group of accounts through controls product offerings.
  • Develop long term relationships and build partnerships with customers.
  • Qualify and assess potential customers, and where necessary refer leads to other segments of the EMCOR businesses.
  • Utilize sales tools to plan and document progress as well as increase business opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Keep management informed of sales progress and sales account statuses.
  • Adhere to company safety and ethical standards.
  • Assists Controls personnel in developing potential and established accounts.
  • Provide quotations from customer bid lists and small service projects.
  • Provides application, technical and cross-referencing assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Provide timely and accurate quotations to customers and accurate order processing.
  • Help enter, maintain, and update customer contracts, coordinate deliveries with warehouse, answer sales calls and general inquiries.
  • Generate pre-bid Scopes and submittal packages and be able to provide post job closeout documents.
  • Calls on contractors as directed by the Director.
  • Provides technical assistance or information.
  • Maintains customer data files using CRM.
  • Other duties may be assigned
Sales Skills

Prospecting
  • Continually search for new customers using all available resources and leads.
  • Actively pursue and contact these prospective customers as a planned sales activity.
Qualifying
  • Make qualifying presentations to new prospects for the purpose of identifying customer needs, wants, problems and potential problems.
  • Qualify prospects and decide whether to pursue the prospect and/or what products or solutions to propose.
Strategy
  • Understand the customers' organization, purchasing process, and identify key decision makers. Identify your sponsor or sponsors.
  • Utilize EMCOR strategic selling methodology to manage the contract sales process leading to favorable decisions and an order.
  • Actively pursue and follow this strategic sales plan for each prospect.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Building automation and/or HVAC Controls Sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawing.
  • Three to five years of relevant controls sales experience.
  • Extensive building systems knowledge.
  • Knowledgeable in Direct Digital Controls (DDC) control theory.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated selling, problem solving, presentation, and negotiating skills.
  • Experience with HVAC not required as appropriate training will be provided.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) professional certification and skill-set preferred.
  • Familiarity with Automated Logic's product line preferred.
