Job Summary:

The Information Technology Support Specialist L4 provides senior level support to the Department of Defense, Headquarters United States Air Force within broad general guidance, independently define, assist, advise, or guide issue resolution or projects by employing highly specialized knowledge or experience to anticipate problems, conceptualize guiding strategic principles, and identify adaptable technologies to solutions to highly challenging or complex problems. In addition, the candidate shall monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards, and targets are met satisfying the customers' mission needs. This individual ensures that technical demands and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, customers, and partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides "day-to-day" direct support for various classified networks
• Maintains network and standalone servers, workstations, network access, Security Monitoring Systems and system documentation as required
• Analyzes and troubleshoots system anomalies to ensure optimum performance
• Prepares systems for operational use and supports operational tests
• Identifies AIS vulnerabilities and implements countermeasures
• Ensures AIS and network nodes are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies and practices
• Performs VTC System administration, scheduling, & configuration as needed
• Provides network direct client support
• Provides account creations, modifications, & deletions
• Provides direct multilevel Help Desk support & troubleshooting of all hardware and software
• Performs Hardware/Software System Configuration, upgrades, and modifications
• Provides desktop and laptop configuration and support
• Assesses current or future customer needs and priorities through communicating directly with customers, conducting surveys, or other methods
• Reviews and develops implementation plans that include technical analysis meeting mission objectives
• Provides technical planning and strategic thinking across space enterprise portfolio
• Develops or updates project plans for information technology projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing
• Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing technologies
• Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects
• Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented
• Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements
• Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed


Job Requirements

Education / Requirements:

• U.S. citizen
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Applied Physics, Cybersecurity, Information Technology Management, or related discipline. Relevant work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree, like Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Crediting Combinations of Education and Experience standard
• 15+years of experience in DoD Information Technology experience preferred
• No less than 2 years of experience working within classified environments
• Must meet IAT II certifications as defined in DoD 8570.01M

• Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong initiative-taker requiring minimal supervision
• Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature
• Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals


Security Clearance:

DoD active security clearance may be required at a high-level security. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including, but not limited to, bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting up to thirty (30) pounds, as necessary.
