We are looking for a IHC Lab Technician (40 hours per week) in our Elmwood Park, NJ location

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm (with Rotating Saturdays)

Position Summary:

The IHC Technician will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in our state of the art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, you will provide high quality diagnostic material within established turn-around-times.

Position Responsibilities:

Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

• Embeds, cuts, stains and performs other tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.
• Performs accurate gross description on tissue samples.
• Perform quality control procedures established for each method and maintains accurate records.
• Operates all instruments/ equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognizes and identifies instrument/ equipment problems.
• Meets acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.
• Recognizes testing errors/discrepancies or problems and notifies appropriate personnel; assists in problem resolution.
• Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol.
• Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.
• Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System.
• Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science
• Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours)
• Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting and routine special staining techniques.
• One year of relevant work experience (required for Technologist)
