Job Title: HVAC Technician

Work Location: Lockheed Martin Space 6304 Spine Road Boulder, CO 80301

Work / Shift Schedule: 1st Shift (Monday - Friday) 7:00am - 4:00pm

Compensation Range: $26 - $35 per hour based on experience

Other Compensation: This position is not bonus eligible and it is not commission eligible

Job Summary:

Installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations. Tasks range from periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions to conducting maintenance programs to prevent failure of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical controls, evaporative condensers, pumps, fans, and heating equipment. Charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks; sets and adjusts controls and regulators; fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork; overhauls equipment. May service, modify, and maintain centralized BAS computer systems and make program corrections. May be required to install and maintain high-technology clean room environments. Independently performs non-routine and moderately complex assignments. Researches assignments, processes, and analyzes data and may develop recommendations. Competently uses computers and other systems to access, maintain, and manipulate data. General supervision with instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions for new lines of work or special assignments. May provide leadership, direction to lower level employees. In technical or production positions, may determine methods, operations, sequences; develops and/or modifies products and equipment to requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Journeyman level HVAC experience troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing motors, pumps, fans, and equipment
  • CMMS/FAMeS work orders system experience
  • Respond to, as directed by established operational procedures, all house calls in a timely and professional manner to determine malfunctions
  • Perform preventative maintenance work on HVAC equipment
  • Interface with other contractors and other departments with whom they must work or share joint responsibilities to assure a proper working business atmosphere is maintained at all times
  • Document all events such as leaks, mechanical or electrical failures, tenant complaints, accidents, vendors, and contractors entering or leaving the building
  • Document all anomalies, significant weather disturbances, frozen pipes, glass breaks, door closure concerns, roof leaks, etc
  • Must be able to assist with snow removal activities

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or Vocational School a plus
  • 3-6 years of related experience
  • Have or be able to obtain within six months: EPA 608 certification (Universal), Mechanical IV HVAC License
  • Have or be eligible to obtain a security clearance
  • Journeyman level HVAC skills required
  • Facilities Maintenance
  • Computer skills
  • Read and interpret blueprint/drawings
  • Experienced background with water treatment, chiller maintenance and operations work
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance
  • Knowledge of hand tools and metal working tools

Education: HS diploma or Degree/Certification, or equivalent professional experience in Landscaping, Trades (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc), or Specialty Floor Care, preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • EPA Universal or Mechanical IV HVAC License or obtain EPA Universal within six months
  • Must possess applicable certifications, licenses, and valid driver's license in good standing

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Frequently is required to climb or balance. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is considered normal. Required to drive a company vehicle daily.
