Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Emergency Service Supervising Clinician, the Hospital Based ESP Clinician will work with the medical staff to triage clients and assess clients who may be in need of behavioral health services. This clinician will work with ESP and hospital staff to assess for level of care needed, provide appropriate clinical intervention and case management support.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with medical staff to triage clients who may be in need of behavioral health service
  • Will provide assessment of need, risk and appropriate level of services.
  • The clinician gathers and documents collateral information from family and care givers that may inform treatment decisions.
  • The clinician will consult with the medical staff to identify a patient's known symptoms, triggers and successful coping strategies.
  • When consulted, will provide services to patients in affiliated primary care practices or on medical floors exhibiting signs of behavioral health crisis.
  • The clinician will assist in the development and implementation of the clinical pathways for behavioral health patients in the hospital. This includes working with both Aspire Health Alliance staff and hospital staff to include a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of behavioral health patients in the hospital.
  • The clinician will follow up on referral needs of patients who can be discharged with appropriate community supports.
  • Demonstrates the ability the join with clients and families in distress and work with them in disposition planning
  • Demonstrates the ability to balance the needs of children and adolescents while recognizing the parents as being caretakers and decision makers.
  • Demonstrates awareness of impact of developmental issues on crisis presentation.
  • Assists in the locating of resources and applications.

Required Skills
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other mental health discipline.
  • Training in assessing adults in crisis as well as competency in assessing children and their families in crisis.
  • Independent Licensure preferred

Required Experience
  • Minimum of one year experience in a Crisis Intervention setting or related field placement in Crisis Intervention setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and training in assessing both adult crises was well as competency in assessing children and families in crisis.
