Job Description

GPIis seekinga Lead Highway Engineer / Senior Project Manager for our Western NY operations, to work from either our Buffalo or Rochester NY offices. The successful individual will lead and mentor staff and be engaged in building out our WNY roadway design practice. Our Western New York Branch primarily serves State, County, and municipal clients throughout NYSDOT Regions 4, 5, and 6 including Locally Administered Federal Aid (LAFA) and locally funded projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a point of contact and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Designing and/or supervising all aspects of highway design
  • Delegate tasks to staff and provide project oversight of design and plan production, quantity, and cost calculations
  • Prepare project specifications, typically in NYSDOT format
  • Develop design solutions for a variety of project scopes ranging from urban arterials to rural collectors
  • Proficiency in highway design and analyses, with experience utilizing software applications (e.g. MicroStation, Inroads, Civil-3D, etc.) with minimal to no guidance
Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis on highway design
  • 10+ years experience working on NY highway projects preferred
  • NY Professional Engineering License required
  • Experience working on NYSDOT and LAFA projects
  • Experience with Traffic Modeling (preferred

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
