SUMMARY

The Heavy Check Specialist position has been created to better utilize staffing during the Aircraft Heavy Checks. This position enables any individual to accomplish numerous tasks along with the daily C-Check functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following, but are not limited to:

  • The Heavy Check Specialist is required to accomplish accurate computerized transactions, with regard to the following tasks.
  • Required to be able to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.
  • Be able to operate a forklift for loading and unloading of material deliveries.
  • Responsible for shipping and receiving aircraft components, expendable materials,and aircraft tooling system-wide.
  • Must be able to accomplish computerized transactions in PMI, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, UNIX, Lotus Notre, and Internet Explorer.
  • Responsible for computerized transactions required to create repair orders, update orders, repair quotes, teardowns, and closing of orders.
  • Must be able to process Exchange Orders for units, which are determined to be BER due to repair costs
  • Give data on stock to the authorized company personnel, especially Stores, Inventory Control, and Maintenance.
  • Keep work and adjacent areas clear. Stores items according to Company, fire, safety,and "good housekeeping" regulations and practices. Clean and service equipmentused to keep in operating condition and presentable.
  • Responsible for reporting the need for repairs.
  • Work according to Company regulations and procedures and instructions from the management.
  • Must review paperwork in partnership with Quality Control on any records updates as needed.
  • As may apply to work assignments, climb on ladders, bins, etc.; drive or guidepowered equipment such as golf carts, forklifts, and company trucks.
  • Read and write legibly to complete forms and/or acknowledge messages, as well as identify company part numbers, invoices, bill of lading, and shipper numbers as required.
  • Must be able to handle delicate components, and ensure materials received are free of damage, or missing parts.
  • Responsible for Daily shipments from Heavy Maintenance facilities as needed.
  • Preparing all required documents for Export as required.
  • Packaging, Labeling, and identification of HAZMAT Materials.
  • Duties include the operation of Forklifts and other lifting devices as needed to unload materials into the warehouse
  • Work overtime on short notice in emergencies or when operationally necessary.
    • Work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off.
  • Additional tasks

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)





REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos;
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year of material services experience. Customer service is a plus.


SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Read, write, and fluently speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


TRAVEL
  • This position requires traveling out of state to support Aircraft Heavy Check requirements.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

The employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required to walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
