AstraZeneca is leading a revolution in oncology to redefine cancer care. Our ultimate goal is to prevent and provide cures for cancer in every form. By following the science we have created one of the most diverse oncology portfolios and pipelines in the industry. We are transforming the way people with cancer are diagnosed and treated by a focus on early disease, looking in new places, beyond traditional classifications. Through this relentless quest for innovation, we are defining new biomarkers and therapeutic targets that cut across multiple tumor types. We are pushing the boundaries of science and providing precision medicines matched to patients who can benefit from them.
Realizing the full potential and value of our innovative approved medicines requires clinical stakeholders involved in the patient journey to rapidly understand and incorporate these advances into their practice. This includes timely and maximum patient identification and optimal management and care of patients with these treatments. Through our Precision Medicine and Nurse Education teams, we aim to accelerate the understanding and uptake of the latest advances, remove barriers and ensure that key members of the patient care team can work together to evolve how cancer is treated. We want to ensure that pathologists, biologists, genetic counsellors, nurse practitioners and relevant mid-level practitioners working in cancer care have the tools needed to deliver optimal outcomes and drive a new era of patient care.
Making cure a reality for millions of people living with cancer will take more than bringing transformative medicines to market. It involves redefining the patient journey from the point of diagnosis through to surviving and thriving for patients by addressing the gaps to achieving outstanding quality of care. It is about setting new standards for patient outcomes and helping the oncology community achieve those - by empowering patient care teams, patients and caregivers to benefit from new processes, workflows, enhanced connectivity, technologies and digital solutions to realize what is possible, and doing this at scale. Outsmarting cancer at scale requires a collective and collaborative approach with partners in the ecosystem to help design, develop and deliver care and change practice at the system level. And that is what we are setting out to do through our new Ecosystem Partnership and Digital Health teams.
