This leadership role will report to our Head of User Experience at C.H. Robinson and is rooted in empathy, autonomy, and human-centered design. You will serve a central role in modernizing the global design organization - its craft, processes, and capabilities - and contribute to a holistic vision and roadmap for our global design initiatives.

We expect your exceptional talent, experience, and management ability to enhance our design culture, capabilities, and product experiences.

As a member of our Technology organization, you will work closely with our Head of UX to shape the future of Navisphere - our proprietary global transportation management system (TMS) that supports 10,000 daily active users worldwide.

You will also lead a team of talented UX designers responsible for delivering world-class product experiences that span our Navisphere platform and crucial to our users' success.

Our main priority continues to be the health and safety of our employees. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will be remote until further notice. Long-term, this position will be ideally located in Eden Prairie, MN, but we will consider it remote for the right individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Robinson's Head of UX to define and communicate the vision and strategy for transforming our customer's experience across web, mobile, and desktop applications
  • Oversee the user experience component in our product development process from inception to launch in symphony with engineering, product, project, and business partners
  • Lead design projects and teams through the user experience and product design process towards world-class solutions
    • Conduct design thinking exercises, workshops, brainstorms, and critiques
    • Institute personas, journey maps, workflows, wireframes, visual designs, prototypes, and design system artifacts
    • Define research methods and testing strategies, leverage usability metrics, observe and interview users, research competitors, and synthesize findings into meaningful, actionable recommendations
    • Influence design direction for teams by giving thoughtful, detailed, and actionable feedback
    • Use systems-level design thinking to drive extensible solutions that scale our global business
    • Inform design decisions using data derived from user insights, analytics, cultural nuances, and Robinson business-segments
    • Collaborate with internal and external constituents (e.g., customers, stakeholders, and users) to define requirements and recommendations
  • Manage and be accountable for team performance and health, resource allocation, prioritization, productivity, expense control, and developing a culture of excellence
  • Cultivate a diverse, inclusive, high performing team through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing training and development
  • Select, develop, and evaluate team members to ensure effectiveness and alignment with current and future goals and priority initiatives
  • Contribute principal execution for product design

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) design experience
  • 6+ years of experience as a member of a software product development team
  • Technical front-end UI experience, e.g., implemented designs using HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • 2+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary (visual design, interaction design, front-end development, research, and usability engineering) teams within an enterprise organization
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Travel: 15%
  • Bachelor's degree Human-Computer Interaction; or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GED
