About the Department

The Social Sciences Division's Local Business Center (LBC) provides financial and business support to departments and faculty members in the following key areas: budgeting and account administration, grant administration, procurement, and payroll support. The Local Business Center is the main point of contact for matters involving the use of operating and/or research funds.

Job Summary

The job works independently to administer pre-award and/or post-award activities relating to grant and contract proposals/funding within a department or unit.

Responsibilities

  • Processes and monitors postaward sponsored project activities and constituent business processes.
  • Provides expert post-award assistance and advice to Faculty members, Business Managers, and others.
  • Monitors and reports on post-award activities.
  • Analyzes and trouble-shoots problems.
  • Resolves post-award process issues.
  • Serves as back-up for critical functions during absences.
  • Serves as liaison to central grant authorities and other offices.
  • Represents the Business Center in campus-wide forums.
  • Disseminates grant information.
  • Ensures service and communication to PIs, standardized information, best practices development, and that all faculty and research staff are aware of any new grant policies and changes.
  • Analyzes industry trends and remains current with agency and regulatory changes. Monitors department/ unit compliance with University, Divisional and Department policies and procedures and implements corrective actions for issues identified.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree.

Experience:
  • A minimum of five years' experience in administrative, financial, or customer service roles.
  • Knowledge of federal grant regulations.
  • Knowledge of University grant policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of University or comparable financial accounting systems.
