Job Summary

TBR-The College System of Tennessee serves as the governing board for community colleges and technical colleges across the state. The Office of Policy and Strategy works at the front lines of TBR's efforts to develop insights about student success through data and research.

The Graduate Assistant will assist in various tasks related to research projects within the Office of Policy and Strategy, depending on the research needs of the office. These projects may include quantitative or qualitative data analysis about the effectiveness of student success initiatives, responding to data requests, drafting policy memos, and updating systemwide data tools.

As part of the Office of Policy and Strategy, the Graduate Assistant will collaborate with members of the research team and will have opportunities to participate in meetings with systemwide staff. They will also have opportunities to develop skills in data analysis and policy research, with an eye toward actionable insights to improve student success.

Job Duties

  • 40%% - Assist with data analysis and policy research for the Policy & Strategy division - (Essential)
  • 40%% - Research academic literature and other sources on issues related to ongoing policy work of TBR - (Essential)
  • 15%% - Assist staff in Policy & Strategy in various projects as necessary - (Essential)
  • 5%% - Other duties as assigned - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree;
Familiarity with data analysis or education policy

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate classes;
Experience with data analysis;
Experience with policy and research studies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Microsoft Word, Excel, and proficiency in data analysis;
Ability to communicate orally and in writing;
Professional, trustworthy, and ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently;
Willingness to expand skill set with data analysis software
