Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Golf Course Mechanic in the Department of Sports Turf and Golf Course Operations.
Duties include, but are not limited to:· Diagnose and conduct all equipment repairs, to include Heavy and Light Weight machinery and any hydraulic repairs;· Successfully resolve equipment failures, make emergency repairs and adjustments to equipment in the field and train employees on proper usage;· Must be able to weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment;· Development, implementation and coordination of a preventive maintenance plan;· Development, implementation, management and monitoring of the Golf Course Inventory Tracking System;· Maintain records of the daily usage, repair and maintenance history for all equipment and fuel consumption; and· Ensure the clean, orderly appearance of all equipment, tools, supplies, and the maintenance building.
Requirements: An associate's degree in related field and three (3) years related work experience in golf course equipment maintenance or equivalent education, training and experience is required. Previous Experience in hydraulics, diesel, gasoline engines, and diagnostics in Tier 4 Diesel engines are required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Trades Specialist IV (KC40/61122218/FTE-S00965P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range is $37,860.00 (minimum) to $53,957.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours vary. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Associate's degree in related field. Three (3) years related work experience in golf course equipment maintenance or equivalent education, training and experience. Previous Experience in hydraulics, diesel, gasoline engines, and diagnostics in Tier 4 Diesel engines are a must.
Licensure and/or Certification:Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge and skills in reel mower grinding, adjustment and repair; diagnostics, maintenance and repair of turf equipment including diesel engines, gas engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and welding; knowledge of safety practices relevant to use of equipment; ability to manage a shop and maintain a fleet of golf course equipment; properly keep records of equipment maintenance; implement and schedule preventive maintenance with the use of a computer; and assist in budget planning and parts ordering. As necessary candidate will possess or acquire appropriate certifications/licensures.
Additional comments regarding this position:The position requires performance of physically demanding work, which includes kneeling, crawling, balancing, stooping, and may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of heavy objects and materials (20-100 pounds); Some tasks may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as machinery or, toxic products.
