Nordson MEDICAL designs, engineers and manufactures complex devices and components with applications in wound healing, surgical and minimally invasive, fluid management, pulmonology and interventional and structural heart. Our pioneering Advanced Polymers team was the first to manufacture and supply medical balloons to the medical device industry. Nordson MEDICAL works with doctors, start-ups and large medical companies around the world at any point in the product lifecycle, from concept to launch and beyond.

Successfully lead the global Quality team for a $125M+ manufacturer of fluid management solutions & technology for the Medical industry. As part of the leadership team working on strategic growth and operating plan execution, the Quality Director is responsible to partner with our Operations teams globally in delivering leadership level performance regarding Cost of Poor Quality, while manufacturing a differentiated product that meets and exceeds customer expectations regarding quality and performance. The Quality Director will develop process and training that enables our products to be made with the highest quality and consistency site-to-site throughout our global manufacturing footprint.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives engagement in safety vision, Journey to Zero, to prevent incidents through focus on unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Leads all aspects of Quality globally within the organization, drives engagement and accountability regarding Quality within our culture and our employees. Empowers employees to make decisions and drive actions to ensure the highest Quality performance to our customers.
  • Ensures all our facilities operate within, and maintains compliance with, applicable regulatory requirements for each region and government. Stays current on all requirements year-over-year.
  • Partners with government agencies, including the FDA, EMA, & NMPA, to ensure manufacturing processes and product specifications meet required regulations. Accurately responds to questions and inquiries in the designated response windows.
  • Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products.
  • Manages resource utilization to assure quality standards are achieved daily. Partners with Operations to ensure all products meet required specifications making the prevention of escapes a top priority.
  • Utilizes the Nordson Business System, NBS Next, to plan, facilitate, and/or lead continuous improvement with focus on Quality.
  • Hosts on-site and virtual audits, answer questions and provides documentation to customers regarding quality and regulatory standards in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Participates in the review of product designs and specifications to ensure that new products are designed to the market, governing agency, and customer requirements. Supports overall product development efforts.
  • Supports Operations in the qualifying and commissioning of new machines, molds, and equipment in all our manufacturing sites around the world.
  • Demonstrates strong talent management ability focusing on hiring, coaching, directing, and developing employees while increasing engagement.
  • Partners with Finance team on measurement and reporting of quality metrics and control activities.
  • Successfully establishes and adhered to yearly departmental budgets.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field is required
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a quality or operations leadership role is strongly prefered
  • Proven experience in leading and implementing quality management systems, driving down cost of poor quality and preventing escapes with measurable results
  • Experience with managing injection molding manufacturing is preferred
  • Past experience traveling in Europe & Asia while managing remote team members abroad is strongly preferred
  • Experience operating in an agency regulated environment is a plus

TRAVEL REQUIRED

25% - Site visits to Europe & Asia as needed to support manufacturing & team

Base Salary Range for this position is $130,000 to $175,000 and bonus target is 15% MIP; Benefits include Medical, Rx, Vision, Dental, and Health Savings Account (HSA), Retirement and Security benefits including 401k and Life Insurance. In addition to Paid Time off and paid Holidays, each employee receives 16 hours paid time each calendar year to perform volunteer services for Nordson-sponsored events.
