Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a GIS Analyst who will support staff using geographic information systems (GIS) databases and tools; populating and cleaning GIS datasets, generates custom and standard maps, spatial analyses and other GIS products to meet customer requirements; utilizes GIS tools and utilities to convert data to GIS formats and performs data quality checking and correction.

Professional experience utilizing ArcGIS Online and associated tools including Survey123, Field Maps, Experience builder, and web applications. Experience using ArcGIS Online to support field data collection is essential to this position. GIS work is performed in ArcGIS 10.8, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS.

What Do You Get To Do In This Position:

  • Formats and generates a variety of GIS products including standard and custom maps and map series, standard map templates, shape files, graphics, tables and reports; uses cartographic and design principles to include legends, insets and reference information.
  • Performs spatial analyses such as buffering, spatial overlays and distance calculations using established methods and procedures.
  • Maintains, updates, and designs shape files and geospatial databases; extracts, cleans, adjusts and converts data and information from non-GIS systems into GIS formats; uses scripts, queries and other tools to obtain and/or correct missing or incorrect spatial and attribute data.
  • Participates in developing and implementing queries, scripts and instructions of moderate difficulty.
  • Assists in the design, development, testing and implementation of GIS applications to meet customer needs and enterprise requirements.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and well-designed file structures for both spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Creates custom Survey123 forms and report templates
  • Creates custom ArcGIS Field Maps field collection tools
  • Utilizes ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS to create web maps and geo apps
  • Problem solves technical issues within the Esri ecosystem
  • Trains staff on digital collection tools and trouble shoot issues with tablets and GPS equipment
  • Finds, obtains, downloads, and organizes data. Performs quality control operations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all data; Researches source documents and/or coordinates with others to resolve missing or conflicting data and other anomalies
  • Displays and modifies GIS and CAD data using Autodesk or similar drafting programs
  • Stays abreast of new trends and technology in GIS applications


This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Cartography, Archaeology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field with an emphasis in GIS (or a GIS certificate from an accredited school)
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience of environmental consulting experience in the A/E/C industry
  • One (1) year of professional experience using software tools and applications including but not limited to:
    • ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro)
    • ArcGIS Online
    • ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server)
    • Creating Survey123 forms (with Survey123 Connect) and designing Survey Report templates
    • Creating ArcGIS Collector databases and maps for field use
    • Creating web maps and geo apps in ArcGIS Online and Portal
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Word
  • Ability to organize, plan, QA/QC, and complete projects efficiently
  • Knowledge of commonly used publicly available GIS sources
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and define user requirements for a given GIS task and recommend and provide a GIS solution
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to work well with local and remote team members and equally able to work alone. Must be enthusiastic and self-disciplined in order to organize time and prioritize assignments. Multitasking and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience working across multiple office locations with remote staff is strongly desired. Experience communicating technical issues to non-technical staff is highly desired

Desired:
  • IT/Networking/Hardware/General Desktop Support and Troubleshooting experience
  • Drafting using AutoCAD or other drafting software
  • Experience with Adobe products (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • 3D mapping and modeling
  • Previous experience with relational database development
  • Python, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, Visual Basic, C#, or other programming experience.
