Job Summary/Basic Function:
Oversees the management of and provides leadership and vision for the overall development of programs and services for the campus Gender Equity Center.
Level Scope:
Manages a program, regardless of size, that has critical impact upon the campus. Significant responsibility for formulating and administering policies and programs, manages significant human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a very high degree of autonomy. Frequently influences business decisions made by senior leadership. Oversees through subordinate Managers the accountability and stewardship of campus resources and the development of systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Negotiates and influences others to understand and accept new concepts, practices and approaches.
Essential Functions:
60% of Time the Gender Equity Center, Director:

  • Supervises staff in relation to their roles and responsibilities in upholding the mission of the Center.
  • Develops and facilitates training for various departments, student organizations, teams, and classrooms.
  • Provides consultations to campus entities on issues related to the center's mission.
  • Provides administrative direction and leads Center staff, programs, and services with emphasis on helping students meet their educational objectives through directed attention to both individual and systemic issues related to gender.
  • Engages in outreach to students regarding needs and center efforts.
  • Creates university-wide educational publications (print and web) and educational marketing campaigns, as well as maintains and updates written protocols and procedures.
  • Actively conducts on-going research in the field and conducts assessments on programs, marketing and other program goals.
  • Provides support to the Campus Coordinated Community Response Team and grant related subcommittees.
  • Serves as a partner on the divisional equity team.
35% of Time the Gender Equity Center, Director
  • Position must keep accurate case files and adhere to state codes regarding confidentiality.
  • Provides direct crisis intervention, case management, referrals and advocacy services for campus members.
  • Critically assesses and advocates for improvements in institutional structure, policy and resources in support of these issues.
  • Researches and keeps apprised of national trends, innovations, and best practices related to equity work and violence prevention.
  • Produces reports on departmental efforts.
  • Seeks out and applies for grants to advance departmental efforts.
  • Maintains on-going relationships with on and off campus agencies to increase effectiveness and coordination of services.
5% of Time the Gender Equity Center, Director
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Four years of experience in an area that addresses women's and gender-related concerns in Student Affairs in Higher Education or a related field.
  • Ability to understand and articulate sex and gender-related needs and concerns from a perspective that includes the intersections of gender, race, sexual orientation and other significant aspects of individual and cultural identity.
  • Ability to work and collaborate successfully with persons, programs, organizations and agencies with distinctly varied missions, goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in educational program design and implementation.
  • A record of personal and professional initiative, flexibility and strong communication skills, including public speaking and writing, grant writing preferred.
  • Experience supervising full-time staff as well as graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Three years experience working in crisis response, or working with people in trauma, knowledge of trauma-informed care and victim-centered delivery of services.
  • Knowledge of appropriate state and federal laws covering issues related to stalking, sexual assault and relationship violence, including a familiarity with Title IX and the Dear Colleague Letters.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Counseling and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in and knowledge of best or promising practices as they pertain to student crisis response, violence prevention, and support of LGBTQIA+ identified students.
  • Ability to navigate and manage complex situations which affect students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to manage and maintain appropriate budgetary responsibilities.
  • Experience with victim assistance services, advocate training, and/or prevention education programming, preferably in a university setting.
  • A current working knowledge of theory, practices, protocols and response to victims/survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking and other interpersonal crimes of violence.
  • Experience designing, facilitating and assessing training about LGBTQIA+ experiences and needs and bystander intervention.
  • Knowledge of current literature and national and statewide trends.
  • Must have a familiarity with the relevant code of ethics and a history of ethical practice.
  • Knowledge of policy development and implementation at a state university.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including communities based on religion, race, and ability, and as well has an understanding of how stalking, sexual assault, and relationship violence intersect with racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and other forms of oppression.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years experience or equivalent including 5 years managerial experience.
  • Eligible for Social Work or Counseling licensure in the State of Idaho.
Salary and Benefits:
$61,193.60 - $65,500.00 annually, commensurate with experience.
