SUMMARY:
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for optimizing the utilization of the Process Water Mobile fleet (RO, UF, filtration, etc) " Ready to Go" assets and provide clients with Veolia Mobile Water equipment, technical assistance and instruction of the installation, maintenance, and operation of the products and processes with a " service excellence to client" objective. The position involved to perform some cleaning membrane(CIP) or resin regeneration following the company protocol and the safety guidelines (use of caustic, acid at high concentration).
This position will involve communication through interfaces within Veolia's business unit in Dayton, Ohio. This position will be based in our Dayton, Ohio office, which is the main location of the fleet and SDI. However, 70% travel will be required with an average trip length of 1 - 4 weeks. Trips to Canada to support mobilization of some of our assets would also be part of the role.
Natural evolution of this position will be to reach an operational management position following the business and fleet growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In charge of the preparation of mobilization and demobilizations of the mobile units
  • Provide onsite process enhancements to deployed / operating projects
  • Provide onsite adjustments to operating parameters of deployed projects
  • Consult with customer on questions concerning equipment erection requirements and protocol
  • Place equipment into operation and instruct users in use and care of equipment
  • Investigate and correct malfunctions - repair and calibrate when necessary
  • Inspect completed installations prior to placement of equipment into operation
  • Report problems and recommend improvements in design or process
  • Consult with customer in spare parts requirements and assist in procurement
  • When on customer project site, serve as liaison between customers and Veolia Mobile Water Services office
  • Provide feedback to the engineering and project management teams as required capturing field changes to the design
  • Ensure that all company, client and project policies, procedures and standards are adhered to and interpret such policies
  • Assist with the implementation and interpretation of safety programs
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the field service manager



GENERAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A.S. degree in Engineering preferred or compatible work experience may be substituted for degree
  • At least five years of experience in the water treatment equipment service or closely related discipline
  • Technical Knowledge - fundamentals of mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics and membrane technology experience
  • Ability to climb a ladder and perform elevated work and in a safe manner
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs. (at least a heavy membrane, 60 lb. bag of polymer/sand/pail of chemical)
  • Ability to perform chemical cleanings and wear the appropriate PPE
  • Must be organized, good mechanical aptitude, problem solver and self-directed
  • Able read mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Have experience with PLCs and control instrumentation
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to rent a car required
  • Agility and quick response to new situation (logistical problems, technical issues on an asset) with good communication skills
  • Ability to train staff and to prepare procedure or training materials
  • Common use of computer software (documents, calculation sheet, power point presentation)
