JOB SUMMARY

The Medical College of Georgia's Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Augusta University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track open rank faculty - clinician educator.The selected candidate needs to be a board certified/board eligible, fellowship-trained Sports Medicine physician interested in joining a busy, established faculty practice in Augusta, GA. Together with colleagues, the candidate will be responsible for the clinical care of adults and children in an ambulatory clinic setting.Given the vision and mission of the Medical College of Georgia, the candidate should have an interest in education and research.The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to patient care and enthusiasm for creating an inclusive learning and working environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates will have completed an ACGME or AOA accredited qualifying residency program (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). Must have completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine and eligible for a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQ-SM).

COLLEGE AND DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Medical College of Georgia, one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, is fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to nearly 600 residents and fellows in 51 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs.
Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
The DFCM has an ACGME accredited Allopathic Family Medicine Residency Program, additional residency Osteopathic Recognition from the ACGME, and an ACGME accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. The department has also started a Rural Medicine Fellowship and is making plans for a Geriatric Fellowship in the near future.

Clinical teaching and services occur concurrently in the Family Medicine Center (FMC) and at Wellstar MCG Health as well as other affiliated local and regional clinical sites.DFCM also runs a community-based clinic in South Augusta as a teaching site and provides medical coverage for a free medical clinic in the Harrisburg neighborhood of Augusta.Primary Care Sports Medicine clinical teaching and patient care also occurs at the Department of Orthopedics Clinic site at West Wheeler Parkway in Augusta.An innovative and unique clinical service, “Orthopedics On Demand” clinic is also available at this location every weekday afternoon and evening.
