Overview of Position

Richardson RFPD are looking for a candidate passionate about Wireless Connectivity, Cloud and Artificial Intelligence, willing to challenge him/herself with the next generation of intelligent machines that will drive the digital revolution.

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) will report to Richardson RFPD's corporate engineering and assist our North American based customers with technical support on products and solutions that include sensing, RF connectivity, application software, security, cloud services and data analytics.

Working in conjunction with the local technical marketing and sales team, the FAE will also act as technical advisor for the sales force and will play a key role in the execution of Richardson RFPD corporate strategy in the territory.

What You will Be Doing

  • Leverage Richardson RFPD's connectivity product offering and services to identify and support new opportunities.
  • Team up with Sales and Marketing on driving educational activities within engineering community, supporting technology events (seminars, trade shows, webinars, etc) representing Richardson RFPD as the technical subject matter expert.
  • Engage with Richardson RFPD Engineering in creating and performing hands-on hardware and software solution demonstrations at customer premise, engineering centers and trade shows.
  • Utilize Richardson RFPD's hardware, software, security, cloud, and device management offering to create unique use cases and solutions for the broad market.
  • Act as a technical advisor and provide internal training to our cross functional teams (Sales and Marketing).
  • Attend supplier product trainings in person or via conference calls and keep abreast of emerging new technology by participating in industry workshops and seminars.
  • Traveling required 20-25% of the time.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Ability to ask the right questions to determine customer's needs and leverage Richardson RFPD's line card, engineering, and design services partners to identify & facilitate solutions for customers.
  • Responsible for architecting and developing solution specifications, a preliminary feasibility assessment and the provide guidance with the engineering execution. The FAE will work closely with Richardson RFPD's corporate engineering team as well as third-party design support entities to ensure successful completion of these projects.
  • Coordinate development of preliminary use-case testing of hardware and software, device management software for wireless connectivity, perform on-site demonstrations and enable solution integration in customer's product.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of wireless technologies such as Cellular (GSM, UMTS, LTE, LTE-A, 5G-NR), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee and GNSS experience.
  • Familiarity with RF test platforms such as Keysight, Rhode & Schwartz, Anritsu and other protocol communications test equipment and tools. (Wi-Fi analyzers, packet sniffers and protocol tester)
  • Familiarity with hardware simulation, layout, antenna design and the cellular equipment certification process.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to consult in a client-facing role.
  • Strong technical presentation and analytical skills.

Experience / Education

  • BSEE or related engineering degree and 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience working with various IoT Service and Application layers, IoT protocols, embedded Linux systems, microcontroller, and sensors.

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate:

$126,001.08 - $154,001.32

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
