The Executive Director of Perioperative and Procedural Services serves as the most senior operations leader in the organization for perioperative services. Through the oversight of all facets of perioperative operations, the Executive Director is accountable and responsible for strategy development and deployment, achievement of annual operating goals, and champions a highly reliable culture of safety. The Executive Director reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services and has a triad relationship with the Chief of Surgery for Operations, and the Chair of Anesthesia. As a triad, the team leads the perioperative governance structure.

The Organization:

Loyola University Medical Center is a three-time ANCC Magnet designated 547 bed quaternary care facility. The medical center is one of the most complex in the Midwest and is currently ranked 6th in the State of Illinois. The medical center is a Level I Trauma Center, designated Burn Coordinating Center, one of the largest organ transplant centers in the region, stem cell transplant center, comprehensive stroke center, and a Level III Perinatal Center by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Perioperative Services at LUMC:

The service line includes 35 operating rooms and 8 procedure rooms (cardiac, vascular, neurosciences, and nephrology), producing nearly 25,000 procedures $675M in gross revenues annually. Advanced specialties include: abdominal and thoracic organ transplant, cardiac surgery (including ECMO), neurosciences, robotics, pediatrics/neonates, and burn and trauma. The medical center is currently undergoing a $20M renovation project, aimed at modernizing workflows, enhancing technologies, and expanding hybrid access.

Reporting to the Executive Direct includes main hospital based operating rooms, ambulatory surgery center, sterile processing, perfusion services, post-anesthesia/recovery unit, pre-anesthesia services, cardiac catheterization lab and EP lab, and perioperative business operations. The team includes 350 colleagues, 7 managers, numerous assistant managers, clinical nurse leaders, team leads, and coordinators.

The Candidate:

The preferred candidate will be an innovative and transformational leader, with a progressive track record of demonstrated leadership in a complex tertiary/quaternary environment, preferably with academic experience; a nurse qualified for licensure in the State of Illinois and a Master's degree required, DNP/PhD preferred. ANCC national certification required.

The Executive Director of Perioperative and Procedural Services will have a demonstrated record of achieving outcomes through collaborative practice in a matrixed organization, including physician leaders, key stakeholders, and direct care colleagues.
