About This Job

The Equipment Finance Sales Officer will directly solicit companies with revenues between $10MM and $2 Billion for general industry equipment finance and leasing opportunities in the assigned territory. Additionally, the Equipment Sales Representative will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with Commerce Bank Relationship Managers to promote and close equipment finance opportunities. The Equipment Sales Representative will call upon CEO's, CFO's, Controller's and appropriate key decision-makers in the targeted companies. Calls will be made jointly with Relationship Managers and individually. The Equipment Sales Representative will work with the Credit, Legal, and Administrative departments of Commerce Bank to structure and close the transactions.

Essential Functions

  • Primarily involved in calling activities with assigned customers and targeted prospects with the objective to acquire new business
  • Serves as the primary advisor for an assigned portfolio of diverse and complex commercial relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and retention
  • Coordinates with product partners to cross-sell a full range of products and services
  • Critically reviews and analyzes portfolio to reduce risk and enhance profitability
  • Facilitates credit requests, including loan structuring, negotiating/pricing, collateral, ensuring adequate loan documentation, and analyzing industry/credit risk
  • Facilitates the resolution of customer problems, engaging product experts as needed
  • Participates in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank and to establish referral contacts within the marketplace
  • Ensures compliance with all bank policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Thorough knowledge of full range of commercial products, credit policies and procedures and terminology
  • Strong time management skills, with ability to appropriately prioritize calling activities and strategies

  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Good credit analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Well-developed persuasive and negotiation skills
  • Good independent decision making skills, but requires some management oversight
  • Ability to structure more complex credit requests
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • Minimum seven to ten years of successful sales experience gained through equipment lease origination preferred
  • Working knowledge of single investor tax, loans, TRAC, operating, synthetic, and debt transactions. Experience with tax-exempt products is a plus
