Due to continued rapid growth and expansion of the water group in the Phoenix, AZ area, we are seeking a Regional Team Leader specializing in Water and Wastewater Treatment. Based in Phoenix, AZ you will be a leader for our wastewater treatment practice in the West and will work collaboratively with project managers, business development leaders, and the Engineering Design Organization to deliver design projects and lead and develop our technical resources and capabilities.

Technical qualities and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated experience on municipal infrastructure projects to complete preliminary and detailed design of water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Perform role as design manager, senior design engineer, and/or Engineer of Record
  • Mentor and coach design project engineers
  • Review design outputs, calculations, design briefs, and technical reports for municipal infrastructure, master plans, environmental assessments, and detailed design projects in accordance with industry standards and GHD's quality systems
  • Promote participation at technical conferences and provide senior guidance and review for key technical conference submissions
  • Contribute towards the ongoing GHD design practice standardization across region and nationally
Management responsibilities:
  • Be the primary local point of contact to the water and wastewater Engineering Design team
  • Overall group stewardship, workload balancing, career growth, staffing, and project performance
  • Elevate staff individual performance related to meeting budget, schedule, scope, and quality using technology, tools, processes, and best practices
  • Develop relationships through coaching and mentoring to lead staff in the areas of health and safety, professional growth, technology, project delivery, and skill development
  • Implement and foster a strong health, safety, and quality culture within the group in compliance with GHD's policies and procedures
Client service skills:
  • Deliver quality technical outputs in accordance with client requirements and the project scope
  • Support business development activities through active delivery management and providing input to pursuits and proposals
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
  • Civil/ Chemical/Environmental Engineering Degree
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of CA
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of AZ, or ability to obtain registration in first 6 months of working at GHD.
  • 10+ years' engineering design industry experience including 3 years of supervisory experience ,with proven technical knowledge and skills across the water industry, including a strong background in wastewater treatment, groundwater treatment, linear infrastructure design, condition assessments, and master planning
  • Active in relevant professional associations.
