The Quality Engineer is accountable for the development, implementation, evaluation and support of quality system activities throughout assigned BWAY production facilities. Activities include but are not limited to: evaluation of current practices against standard operating quality principles and existing procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilizing a process approach, evaluate existing practices and conduct gap analyses against international quality system standards and existing procedures; develop and propose modifications to close the gaps.
  • Analyze and interpret product data using appropriate tools for improvement in capability, reliability and compliance; assess impact of changes through use of appropriate quantitative & qualitative tools.
  • Plant SME of the Infinity quality system
  • Validate process and product changes to ensure desired results are achieved and sustainable.
  • Facilitate or participate on improvement teams directed at resolving repetitive or complex problems.
  • Assess measurement systems to ensure reliable process and product measurement data; develop/propose modifications when results are unacceptable.
  • Provide training to process owners for system changes, and conduct audits at appropriate intervals to ensure implementation and sustainability.
  • Develop and prepare new or revisions of documentation in accordance with company best practices.
  • Lead problem solving activities as required.
  • Achieve plant PPM targets.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in science or engineering discipline, other degrees are acceptable with 3-5 years of QA, engineering, manufacturing experience
  • Desired attainment of nationally recognized certification in the areas of quality engineering (e.g., American Society for Quality CQE, CRE, CMQ/OE).
  • Strong problem-solving skills (Plant SME): 5 WHY, Fishbone diagram, 6M, DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, RCCM, FMEA, Pareto
  • Knowledge of statistical and qualitative methods i.e. SPC, MSA, PFMEA, ISO 9000, APQP
  • SAP & Data Analysis (such as Minitab) experience a plus
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone, or in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be action oriented with a strong ability and desire to effectively drive positive change and process improvements.
