Position: Engagement and Learning Librarian, Assistant Professor - Search Extended

Stetson University seeks an innovative, collaborative, and dynamic Engagement and Learning Librarian for a full-time tenure-track appointment as an assistant professor. The ideal candidate has a desire to work collaboratively with a small team of librarians in a place where you can make a difference.  This position will work to develop relationships with the library's various user communities in-person and online through social media and will instruct students both in the library and in classroom sessions.  Working collaboratively, the Engagement and Learning Librarian will coordinate the development and implementation of programming and activities to improve overall user engagement.  The successful candidate will be expected to meet the standards for librarianship, scholarship, and service outlined in the University's tenure and promotion policies. Recent MLS/MLIS graduates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: 

Master of Library & Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution requiredSecond Master's degree preferred. All Stetson librarians are expected to contribute to general reference and research services and function well as a member of a collaborative team. In addition, the successful candidate should have the following: demonstrated ability or potential to engage in publication and professional service to meet University tenure and promotion requirements; knowledge of best practices, issues, and trends in user-centered design in academic libraries, including trends in teaching and learning, online learning; demonstrated teaching or presentation experience; the ability to contribute to a growing and changing library;  demonstrated skill with a variety of online tools such website management systems and learning management systems; effective communication, marketing, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical and assessment skills; ability to manage projects and meet deadlines; and the ability to work flexibly and creatively in a changing environment.

Responsibilities: 

This position reports to the Director of Public ServicesDuties include coordinating the library's social media and participating in information literacy instruction and research assistance, including some nights and weekendsThe Engagement and Learning Librarian will be expected to give special attention to the following:

    Coordinate the library's social media presence to engage with current and potential library users. Conduct outreach activities with faculty, students, and staff to ensure that library users are aware of collections, services, and technologies available to them. Stay informed of trends related to information literacy instruction and reference services. Effectively communicate the library's goals, services, and news to various campus constituencies, as well as to outside constituencies as appropriate.
The duPont-Ball Library:

The duPont-Ball Library (https://stetson.edu/library) has a collection of approximately 250,000 print volumes and a large collection of electronic journals, databases, and e-books, as well as a collection of scores and recordings in support of the School of Music. The library staff includes 8 library faculty members and 16 support staff.  The library is a member of LYRASIS and uses OCLC's WMS system. The ongoing library fundraising program has resulted in library endowments totaling almost $5 million.  Librarians are tenure-track faculty members who hold leadership positions on campus committees and are actively engaged in scholarly activities, professional organizations and service.
