Summary of Duties:

Human Resource Services is enthusiastically accepting applications for a skilled Employee Accommodations Specialist. Under general supervision, the Employee Accommodations Specialist serves as a skilled human resource professional performing human resource analyst duties related to HRS Disability Services programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, performing activities supporting the following programs: reasonable accommodation, medical leave, workers' compensation, shared leave, long term disability claims, and alcohol and drug testing programs. Plans and carries out established work duties independently and with general supervision, utilizing knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

The position requires frequent contact with employees, management, department administrators, program vendors, and state entities. The incumbent is responsible for prioritizing and managing issues within designated areas of responsibility. Maintains and ensures a confidential environment at all times.

HRS serves WSU system-wide including the Pullman, Everett, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver campuses. Work within Human Resource Services is typically performed in an office environment; however, HRS supports hybrid work under most circumstances. This position is currently eligible for hybrid work options; the work schedule is required to overlap normal HRS Office hours M-F between 8am - 5pm Pacific Time.


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related area and two (2) years of demonstrated knowledge of general human resource practices. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies, and procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.

  • Human resource experience in a higher education setting.
