Description

Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician

Georgia-Pacific's Eugene, OR Chemical Facility is seeking a qualified individual to join its manufacturing team as an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician. This position creates value by inspecting, troubleshooting, and diagnosing electrical and/or control problems to ensure reliable operation of equipment in accordance with plant policies and procedures. This is a Monday-Friday day shift position that will include occasional call-outs, evenings, and weekends.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Troubleshoot/repair/test/inspect/calibrate various industrial equipment: primarily motors, air actuated valves, pressure, temperature, flow and level devices
  • Document and report work execution key findings
  • Ensure proper operation of all control system components to include electronic components, analyzers, on/off valves, control valves solenoids, limit switches, PLC and related I/O modules
  • Assist in and provide expertise on electrical inspections and new/existing installations
  • Work with Supervisors, Maintenance personnel, and Operations to help identify & prioritize electrical and instrumentation needs
  • Share knowledge with other technicians as it relates to maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation, and controls
  • Actively participate in the improvement of equipment reliability
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in plant safety program
  • Occasionally work outside at heights, and in hot or cold weather conditions. Work overtime and on-call as required. Wear a respirator as required. Lift up to 50 lbs

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three years of electrical maintenance experience in an industrial environment
  • State of Oregon Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license or higher
  • Minimum of one year of experience troubleshooting and performing preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment including motor controls, control valves, programmable logic controllers, and control instrumentation

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Minimum of one year of experience mentoring and teaching electrical apprentices
  • Minimum of one year of experience reading technical drawings, schematics, and interpreting OEM manuals
  • Minimum of one year of experience performing instrument calibrations
  • State of Oregon License of Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician(PJ), General Journeyman Electrician(J) or General Supervising Electrician(S)
  • Minimum of one year of experience with industrial test equipment
  • Minimum of one year of experience with programming and troubleshooting Honeywell or other Distributed Control Systems
  • Minimum of one year of experience troubleshooting AC and DC motors & drives, pneumatics and hydraulic systems and tuning control loops
  • Minimum of one year of experience with Motor Control Centers (MCCs) and related electrical equipment up to 480V
  • Minimum of one year of experience with computer operating systems, networks and electronic information handling
  • State of Oregon License of Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician(PJ), General Journeyman Electrician(J) or General Supervising Electrician(S)
  • Minimum of one year of experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Minimum of one year of experience with electrical one line drawings, cable schedules, functional descriptions, I/O lists, and other related electrical documents
  • Minimum of one year of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
