DOT Compliance Specialist


We are searching for an experienced DOT Compliance Specialist at our Corporate Office facility. 



Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Matheson is looking for an experiencedDOT Compliance Specialist for our Corporate HQ in Sacramento, CA.

 
This person will also be responsible forall aspects of the Matheson transportation fleet, ensuring operational safetyand Driver compliance, consistent with Dept of Transportation and Federal MotorCarrier Safety Administration requirements and regulations. The DOT ComplianceSpecialist is responsible for supporting the company in the management ofsafety programs and ensuring the company's compliance with all transportation& safety regulations. Emphasis is on Driver Compliance and Fleet SafetyPrograms.
The successful candidate will becollaborative, act as a liaison to various outside parties and have experiencein the transportation industry to include current DOT and FMCSA regulatoryknowledge.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains all DOT driver qualification files in compliance with DOT regulations which includes coordinating with third party vendors.
Actively monitors active and terminated drivers in Tenstreet & Samba Safety (third party systems to ensure active driver files are compliant).
Makes sure all drivers' license, medical cards, gap forms, and certificate of violations are current and properly maintained in the driver's qualification file (DQF).
Performs an annual review of all active CDL driver's qualification file.
Audit Samba (third party MVR system) to ensure all company drivers do not have recent violations on their MVR. If citations/violations are found, they will need to be investigated and addressed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the employee still meets Company driving guidelines.
Reviews decisional MVRs in a timely manner for all new hires.
Reviews MVRs annually and continuously; Responsible for communicating with Field Managers and the Risk Management team on placing an employee on probation according to their MVR and our Company Driving Standards.
Manages random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing processes. Coordinates with field management and Risk Management to manage and communicate positive test results.
Maintains the company's FMCSR Clearinghouse portal; runs an annual review in the Clearinghouse portal to ensure compliance remains.
Complete all DOT verifications within three business days.
Stays up to date on all new DOT regulations, best practices, and emerging technologies/vendors to assist with compliance efforts.
Assumes other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
2+ years of DOT safety/compliance experience is required
2+ years of experience managing DOT driver qualification files
Ability to write and prepare DOT related materials, reports, correspondence, etc. using the MS Office suite.
High school diploma or GED required; some college or Associates degree preferred but not required
Strong ability to develop partnerships with clients, internal employees, and others
Good presentation, facilitation, and computer skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to research and analyze various types of data information
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Strong attention to detail
Ability to be proactive and strategic, as well as tactical
