Position Summary

ITT Engineered Valves, LLC is seeking a Director of Production for it's Lancaster, PA facility.

SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall management, direction, and coordination of activities needed in the daily operation of the specific departments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers and coworkers. Overall responsibility for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops and administers departmental budgets for labor and operating supplies. Monitors performance and variance to budget and takes action as appropriate to achieve the plan.

Develops operational plans and forecasts shipments.

Support customer quoting with margin analysis as required.

Develops strategic plans in support of company objectives. Interfaces with customers to provide support and assistance in solving their problems. Provide a best in class customer service working environment where all department co-workers performance objectives are aligned with strategic customer service goals and objectives.

Reviews and evaluates equipment and recommends capital additions. Interviews, hires, and trains coworkers as required. Appraises and reviews coworker performance, with reward and disciplinary actions taken as required. Provides direction to implement the latest manufacturing, engineering, and materials technologies.

Reviews, evaluates, and recommends manpower levels consistent with production requirements.

Maintains a continuing financial review to maximize operational results. Maintains accountability for raw material in process and finished goods inventories consistent with budgets.

Reviews Product Engineering changes and new product drawings to determine impact on operations.

Coordinates additions/revisions of production processes to insure timely and cost-effective introduction of changes or new products.

Reviews production and operating repots and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

Develops measurements for analyzing, appraising, and interpreting the performance of the departments and responds with corrective actions as required.

Sets objectives, determines goals in each area of objectives, and develops methods for reaching objectives relative to the production of products within the cell and with an emphasis on continual improvement efforts.

Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications when product is found by an employee to be questionable. Directs setup and adjustments of machines to take corrective action as required.

Studies production schedules and then makes work assignments (including overtime) or adjusts work procedures as required to meet those schedules. Reviews capacity and customer requirements with master scheduling and staff.

Interprets company policies to workers and ensures employees comply with standard operational and working practices. Provides a harassment-free work environment.

Attempts to resolve coworker grievances informally or by providing response to any written grievances. Works with Human Resources to provide optimum hourly/salaried coworker relations.

Interprets specifications, drawings, and job orders to workers and assigns duties.

Directs and implements methods improvements in operating procedures and production processes in order to (a) improve the quality of product, (b) reduce direct labor content, (c) improve product flow, and (d) eliminate non-value-added time. Implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department(s).

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists coworkers in solving work problems.

Initiates plans or reviews suggested plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and directs implementation of confirmed plans.

Holds continuous improvement meetings with coworkers and documents continuous improvement activities.

Confers with other supervisors or managers to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Ensures work area cleanliness is maintained through neat and orderly housekeeping practices.

Enforces safety regulations and maintains awareness of safety issues. Coordinates to completion any necessary corrective action of safety issues.

Ensures inventory counts are performed as required to maintain inventory accuracy. Assists in determine the root cause of any inventory inaccuracies and coordinates corrective action required to prevent reoccurrence.

Interfaces with staff management and levels of management outside the division as required.
Position Requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct reports include Production Manager, Customer Service Manager, Materials Manager, Facilities/Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Product Design Engineering Manager, Nuclear Quality Manager, and QA Manager. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the departments. Carries out management and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining coworkers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A thorough understanding of manufacturing methods is required, and experience in a union production environment is preferred. Must also have demonstrated ability to supervise people in various disciplines. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) with an engineering or business major from a four-year college or university; seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrated analytical and synthesizing abilities.

COMPUTING SKILLS

Ability to effectively utilize word processing software and spreadsheets and to navigate and use and other custom applications software in a MS Windows environment.
