Tripadvisor is looking for a Director of Product Management for Tripadvisor's inventory catalog, merchandising, curation, and recommendations platform to guide the product strategy and development of our existing and international business lines. We are looking for an analytical and hypothesis-driven leader with experience in ecommerce, direct-to-consumer, retail, or CPG digital services to lead our Platform product team. Your work will impact Tripadvisor's 400 million monthly visitors worldwide on the world's largest travel platform.

This role has a highly visibility set of responsibilities, including owning the strategy and roadmap of the capabilities driving our products. The Director will report to the Head of Traveler Product and work closely with other senior leaders to develop category specific strategies and help launch new direct-to-consumer travel & lifestyle products.

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor a team of ML, Search, and Curation product managers in creating business value through hypothesis-driven development processes.
• Build and drive a product strategy for personalization, and relevant impact on search, recommendations, and analytics, across key services and products.
• Work closely with other machine learning and algorithmic product managers to align with Tripadvisor strategies.
• Work closely with data science and engineering teams on research and development for new features.
• Analyze project performance, constantly finding new ways to improve accuracy and customer experience.
• Communicate and evangelize to executive and collaborator teams.
• Manage the operational efficiency and financial aspects of your product portfolio which includes roadmapping, scheduling, budgeting, and forecasting.

What you bring

• 8+ years in a high growth consumer tech company, with 4-7 years in technical product management, and 2-5 years of managing direct reports, with experience hiring, developing, and leading highly performant search and recommendation teams.
• Experience in direct-to-consumer/eCommerce/subscription service space is greatly preferred. International product preferred.
• A deep understanding of the ML & Content Search spaces, both from an academic perspective as well as real-world implementations, including the opportunities and limitations of machine learning.
• An understanding of ontology, taxonomy, and data models to hold your own during discussions with technical team members.
• Experience defining metrics and making product and strategic decisions based on A/B testing and/or qualitative feedback.
• Excellent analytical and commercial experience - a track record of driving business value via effective product stewardship, understanding business impact, and making data-driven decisions.
• Lead and partner with other product managers, designers, engineers, data scientists, analyst, ontologists, and product marketers to to execute cross-product and cross-functional initiatives.
